What Inspires You This June
While the month of June brings a celebration of Fathers, Flag Day and the beginning of Summer, what I love the most about this month is the inspiration that June brings. Inspiration comes from the sunshine that brightens my mood as it filters through the windows of my home. Inspiration rises from spending time with my family at the beach, watching my son laugh as he and his cousins take turns burying each other in the sand. Inspiration occurs from the well manicured lawns and blooming flowers that are ever so present in the neighborhood. I guess what I am trying to say, my inspiration comes from my family, the beauty of nature, and the warm weather doesn't hurt either. That's my inspiration, what is yours?

My Gift From God - A Mother's Day Blessing
I remember it like it was yesterday, a call from the adoption agency telling me that my child had been born. But the story really starts four days before Mother's Day, I was having lunch with my husband at a local restaurant. We were discussing a baby in Texas that my husband's aunt had informed us about. My first reaction was great, but something keep nagging at my heart about the situation. I had finally met with my husband to tell him about my doubts.
While we were in the mist of our lunch, a waitress approached our table and sat our glasses of tea down.
She looked at me and said, "Happy Mother's Day."
"I'm not a mother," I replied wondering if she had overheard our conversation.
"You will be," the waitress replied before she turned to leave. I looked at my husband, "Do you think she heard us talking?"
He shook his head no. "She wasn't around us. She couldn't have heard."
We finished our meal and decided to table the conversation until later. The same waitress appeared again and put our check on the table. "Do you mind if I write God Bless You on the check?" she asked.
"No," I replied. Grabbing her pen from her pocket, she wrote out God Bless You and then left. My husband paid the bill and then I returned home and he went back to work.
When Mother's Day arrived, we drove the two and half hour drive to visit our mothers. Later that night on the way home, I prayed for an answer about the situation with the Texas baby. As I prayed I felt this incredible peace come over me and I knew in my heart that we were not suppose to be the parents of that child. You might think I felt sadness, but I didn't. I just felt relieve that I had an answer, an answer from God.
A couple of days later the phone rang, I picked up the phone not expecting the phone call would change my life forever. The call was from the adoption agency, informing us that our baby had been born. As incredible as that was itself, I found out that my baby had been born the day the waitress told me I was going to be a mother. Was she an angel? I don't know. Was she a woman that God used to give me a message? Maybe. Either way I received a Mother's Day Blessing, a gift from God, my precious baby.

April and Blessings
As April makes it's statement of warmer weather and lots of showers, I have decided this year to try my hand at canning. I recently purchased a book on the subject of canning, freezing, and dehydrating fruits and vegetables. While I realize that most of the canning and freezing will take place this summer when all the vegetables and fruits come into season, I decided to start trying to learn how to exactly master this task that both of my grandmothers manage to do with ease. The idea of storing food made me start thinking about my grandmothers and how it was just second nature to them to put up food for the winter for their families. I look back at my late grandmother and wished I could ask her so many questions about how she fed a family of ten with a small income or how she made the best fried chicken in the world. I guess every one realizes later in life what a gift grandparents are as you are growing up. But unfortunately like myself included, I afraid we learn it too late in life. So if you have older family members, take the time to learn from them. I am positive it will be a blessing to you.

SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER
If you have read my blogs before you know that I am not a fan of the months of January and February. The cold winter months, flu season and the dreariness of the days seem to drag me down. But when March comes around, I see the days becoming brighter and warmer. Sunshine returns, green overtakes the color of the trees, and spring again begins its triumphant comeback. Spring cleaning, organizing and yard work return absorbing your weekends with their required maintenance. I can't wait.
The Irish Gold Blog Hop has begun March 15-18, lots of prizes. Check out Prism Book Group website blog feature for details to enter to win.

Book Review for Homerun
I just read the new release, Homerun, by Ruth Roberts. I found it to be an enjoyable and quick read.
At the daughter of the wealthy Max and Sharon Davenport, Cynthiana's upbringing had not been idealistic. When asked to fill in for her best friend, Stacy as the ICYL Fundraiser Gala planner, she is forced to work with Roberto Luque, a pitcher for the Texas Rangers. The attraction between the two had been evident since the two met earlier at Stacy's wedding. When they began dating, Max Davenport is not thrilled and threatens to destroy Roberto. Cynthiana knows her father his true to his word when false charges are brought against Roberto. Will Roberto be able to prove his innocence? Will Cynthiana be able to stop her father? Will Roberto and Cynthiana's love be able to stand the turmoil her father has caused? Ruth Roberts hits a HOMERUN with this book. I am looking forward to reading more releases from Ms. Roberts.
Available for purchase at all e-book retailers.

Happy Valentine's Day
Aw, Valentine's Day, the day where you spouse or significant other show their undying love for you. Chocolate filled heart shaped boxes, red roses and expensive restaurants will take center stage for the day. The truth is all I want for Valentine's Day and for the past several years is for my husband to bring home dinner. No cooking, no cleaning up dishes is like a dozen red roses to me. No crowded restaurants, no dressing up, no guilt calories from the chocolate candies. So if you are the type of person who likes to get dressed up and go out for dinner then go for it. If you enjoy receiving red roses, candy or jewelry for your special day that is great. I will be thinking about you all when I eating my dinner in my pajamas watching my favorite movie with my husband.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year
It's January, time again to set new goals and resolutions for the coming year. Lose twenty pounds, organize my closets, tackle the dreaded basement with some type of organization, write more. These are a few of my goals for this upcoming year.
January, the time when winter creeps in devouring any remains of the previous season. Winter jackets, gloves, and scarfs are brought out and used for warmth as well as an accessory for wardrobe. Antibacterial gels (as least in my family's case) will be used every time we walk out of our house and we will quickly make haste if anyone around us is coughing or sneezing. Yes, January is my least favorite time of the year, but eventually I know the days will get longer and brighter and spring will again appear. I just need to hold out for the next sixty days.
