Book Review for September: Sarah: Laney's Angel

Sarah: Laney's Angel  (No. 2 in series)

Author: Gay N Lewis

Publisher: Prism Book Group

Sara, a slightly clumsy angel who has a reputation for blunders receives a new assignment from heaven.  Her mission, help along a romance for the beautiful Laney Taylor.

When the directionally impaired angel travels to the wrong city, her assignment at the time is being rescued from an intruder, by her handsome boss Cannon Carlson.

Laney is attracted to Cannon, but does not believe in mixing business with pleasure. When a series of  "accidents"  seem to follow Laney, Cannon becomes concern for her safety.

Cannon doesn't realize that Laney has Tomas, the warrior angel, watching over her. Sarah must not get in the warrior angel's way and work to bring Laney and Cannon together as a couple.

Who is trying to harm Laney? Will Sarah be able to accomplish her mission of bringing romance to Laney and Cannon?

This book surprised me at the end of who was trying to harm Laney.  Laney's Angel is the second in a series and can be read out of order.  The book offers some laugh out loud moments as well as being touching and surprising at times.

Enjoying the month of August

August,a month of change. As summer ends, school resumes and
the last of family vacations are speedily taken. The gardens finish their jobs of suppling fresh vegetables while the flowers showcase their last weeks of beauty. Yes, August is the end of summer, my favorite time of year, but it also ushers in the beauty of fall.

Everyone Need Faith From Time To Time

One of my favorite words in the English language is faith. Webster's Dictionary defines the word as the following - confidence or trust in a person or thing, belief that is not based on proof, belief in God or in the doctrines of religion. What would I do without faith? I have no idea. Faith has always been an important part of my life. From my adoption, to family crises, and being a published author, faith as always been there. The levels of faith may not have been the same with each prayer, but still faith was present. Remember, faith is not believing that God can - it is knowing that He will.
The Bible states in Matthew 17:20 "...if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye will say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Are you in need of a little faith?

May everyone have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July.

What Inspires You This June

While the month of June brings a celebration of Fathers, Flag Day and the beginning of Summer, what I love the most about this month is the inspiration that June brings. Inspiration comes from the sunshine that brightens my mood as it filters through the windows of my home. Inspiration rises from spending time with my family at the beach, watching my son laugh as he and his cousins take turns burying each other in the sand. Inspiration occurs from the well manicured lawns and blooming flowers that are ever so present in the neighborhood. I guess what I am trying to say, my inspiration comes from my family, the beauty of nature, and the warm weather doesn't hurt either. That's my inspiration, what is yours?

My Gift From God - A Mother's Day Blessing

I remember it like it was yesterday, a call from the adoption agency telling me that my child had been born. But the story really starts four days before Mother's Day, I was having lunch with my husband at a local restaurant. We were discussing a baby in Texas that my husband's aunt had informed us about. My first reaction was great, but something keep nagging at my heart about the situation. I had finally met with my husband to tell him about my doubts.
While we were in the mist of our lunch, a waitress approached our table and sat our glasses of tea down.
She looked at me and said, "Happy Mother's Day."
"I'm not a mother," I replied wondering if she had overheard our conversation.
"You will be," the waitress replied before she turned to leave. I looked at my husband, "Do you think she heard us talking?"
He shook his head no. "She wasn't around us. She couldn't have heard."
We finished our meal and decided to table the conversation until later. The same waitress appeared again and put our check on the table.  "Do you mind if I write God Bless You on the check?" she asked.
"No," I replied. Grabbing her pen from her pocket, she wrote out God Bless You and then left.  My husband paid the bill and then I returned home and he went back to work.
When Mother's Day arrived, we drove the two and half hour drive to visit our mothers. Later that night on the way home, I prayed for an answer about the situation with the Texas baby. As I prayed I felt this incredible peace come over me and I knew in my heart that we were not suppose to be the parents of that child. You might think I felt sadness, but I didn't. I just felt relieve that I had an answer, an answer from God.
A couple of days later the phone rang, I picked up the phone not expecting the phone call would change my life forever. The call was from the adoption agency, informing us that our baby had been born. As incredible as that was itself, I found out that my baby had been born the day the waitress told me I was going to be a mother. Was she an angel? I don't know. Was she a woman that God used to give me a message? Maybe. Either way I received a Mother's Day Blessing, a gift from God, my precious baby.

April and Blessings

As April makes it's statement of warmer weather and lots of showers, I have decided this year to try  my hand at canning. I recently purchased a book on the subject of canning, freezing, and dehydrating fruits and vegetables. While I realize that most of the canning and freezing will take place this summer when all the vegetables and fruits come into season, I decided to start trying to learn how to exactly master this task that both of my grandmothers manage to do with ease. The idea of storing food made me start thinking about my grandmothers and how it was just second nature to them to put up food for the winter for their families. I look back at my late grandmother and wished I could ask her so many questions about how she fed a family of ten with a small income or how she made the best fried chicken in the world. I guess every one realizes later in life what a gift grandparents are as you are growing up. But unfortunately like myself included, I afraid we learn it too late in life. So if you have older family members, take the time to learn from them. I am positive it will be a blessing to you.
